Piano Playing

I will play this piano
Like you played my heart.

Each key an emotion,
A deep feeling of mine.

I will start as soft as Spring rain,
Or gentle kisses in the dark.

But I will finish with like a storm -
Or harsh words, whispered too readily.

For each note ended broken,
And every key was abused.

As I realized your lies,
As my feelings were crushed.

So I’m playing this piano,
As you played with me.

Gentle kisses and loving whispers,
To hurtful words and careless thoughts.

With bloody, trembling fingers,
And a broken, dying heart.
