Description

Pheasant
- full view for details -

Back in November, went for a drive around the lake. Just wanted to get out, catch the last few fall colors & warm air. On the way home, this little guy came running out of the ditch, chasing my car! So of course, I had to pull over to try to get some pictures. He was so bright, too, very colorful. Was a bit leary at first of him flying at me, but it turns out his wings were clipped, like he was a domestic. He turned out to be more scare of me than I was of him, every step I took towards him he took 5 back. But I managed to get a few shots (sorry it's so small by the way), some were quite blurred as I didn't have the time to focus because he was running around quite a bit. Another car ended up coming down the road and he went chasing after it, so I got back in my car and started to leave, just to see a female Pheasant, wings also clipped, come out of the ditch. I think he was trying to distract the cars, protect her, by acting like he was. Before I could get back out, they had both ran off into the ditch, then some trees. But it was an interesting 5-minute incident :D
